Other Uses  Used externally for treatment of inflammation, wounds, and bruises. Has antiinflammatory, antiseptic and antibiotic effects. (Kay 1996).
Formulations used by  Informants  Commercially prepared cold infusion (Quinoa).
Phytochemistry  Plants in the genus contain sesquiterpene cadinene derivatives and mono-,sesqui-, and diterpenoids. It contains tremetol which is highly toxic (Kay 1996).
Potential Adverse  Effects  Highly toxic when taken internally; has made humans sick when they drink mild from cattle that have eaten Heterotheca (Kay 1996).
Potential Medication  Interactions  No clinical medication interactions were found.
