Other Uses  Folk uses include constipation, diabetes, gastritis, headache (migrane), menstrual disorders and as a vasoconstrictor (Johnson, 2002).
Formulations used by  Informants  Hot infusion
Phytochemistry  Beta-phenylethylamine and tyramine (Kay 1996).
Potential Adverse  Effects  Potent vasoconstrictor, may cause hypertension. Ergot-like effects could have uterine-stimulant effects. At least one fatality has resulted from tea made from the berries. Also contact dermatitis (Kay 1996).
Potential Medication  Interactions  Hypertensive medication-may decrease effects. Cardiovascular medication-may cause hypertension (Johnson 2002).
