Potential Adverse Effects |
Arbutin hydrolyzes to hydroquinone in alkaline urine; in very large doses hydroquinone can be toxic leading to shock and death. May cause uterine contractions. May turn urine green. Tannins can cause gastrointestinal upset (Kay 1996, Johnson 2002). |
